There was exactly 1.4 seconds left on the clock when skippy and whyatt started their little 'disagreement' if my memory serves me correctly.  They had been niggling each other all through the game and to be honest, Skippy wasn't the only one that Whyatt was niggling. I hope it doesn't spill over into this sunday's game because i think it's gonna be a good game. As long as whoever the ref is (please not Mr Evans  Wink ) remembers it's a play-off FINAL and lets both teams play the game.

Warrior_c, i have to agree with the shooting practise advice  Cheesy  I lost count of the amount of times i was holding my breath when we were one on one with their keeper, and that's not good for an asthmatic  Cheesy

Also, i wholeheartedly agree with the praise given to the defence last night. They worked extremely hard and they looked pretty tired when they came out for the 3rd but they kept going and it paid off.

Derby warrior fan, thats an excellent post.

@ Martin-V, Kippin was cheap when fighting Whyatt! Which game were you watching? Kippin skated over to the bench asked Whyatt if he wanted to fight and Whyatt accepted. Is it Kippins fault that Whyatt wanted to make sure his hair looked nice in the plexi glass before they had the fight? Fair play to kippin for using a quick approach to his advantage. I know if I was ever unfortunate to get into bother I would not be stretching and looking at myself in mirrored surfaces, i would be making sure I ready for anything and also pooing my boxer shorts! It was plain to see Nottingham's tactics and to be honest you can see it when you hear of other teams reacting to them aswell (e.g. Telford trying to fight Whyatt at the end of their game in the play offs). Shouldn't referees pick up on these things and look out for them?

I also said I understood why kippin did that. All I  was saying was I would preferred to see two guys standing toe to toe. Whyatt brought it on himself by taking so long.

As for their game plan it worked to an effect as it stopped you running up a cricket score which you were well on course to do. The final should be over already but they got under whitleys skin and kept the score down.

From where I sit for the games I can clearly see whats happening on the away bench and to be totally honest it did look as if Whyatt didnt even want to get on the ice to go toe to toe with skippy but whoever the guy was who was running the Nottingham bench was telling him to get on the ice and show him how its done.

I agree with the ones that have said Emmerson had no control over that game. When its a game so important against two teams that always show passion within a game the ref whoever it may be should have control from the first drop of the puck down to the final whistle but he let so many things go I'm not surprised things were starting to get a little out of hand. He seemed to not see the hit on Ryan then as soon as Ryan retaliates he sees it. Elbows to David he was close enough to see it yet chooses to ignore it. Check from behind to Adam was so obvious and yet again game carries on without a care in the world.

Hopefully the lads will travel to nottingham and do what needs to be done there and leave anything thats happened in this game there and start afresh. No doubt something will flare up along the way but no doubt nothing the lads cant deal with.

IIRC Whyatt wasn't involved in the stuff in the handshakes at Telford. They were more interested in going for Joe Wightman and Will Weldon! He had been involved in stuff during the game - but that I believe is more to do with some Telford players being unable to seperate on-ice and off-ice issues!

Shouldn't referees pick up on these things and look out for them?
Yes he should!

Joe Wightman wears #20 and is one of our Alternate Captains.
I can't remember what number Will Weldon was wearing, probably #17 but he would have been the short one wearing a face cage!

He was certainly winding people up.

Good player mind.

Well when you skate half the lenght of the ice to try and hit a player then miss and have to try again most people will see it!

Nottingham were smart enough to know which players will react when niggled and unfortnatly some players fell straight into it.

yea he was playing 25.  he was definately a little working ticket and was overheard telling one of our lads in the corridor after the game for him to watch his back as he was going to get him next sunday... so its not just telford who can't leave things on the ice!!   Roll Eyes  but you can do that if your wearing a full face cage though!   Grin

Cheers Martin. Whyatt's been waiting all season to have a 'proper' fight so we'll see if there's a return next week!

You're supposed to be the Lions Press officer, and you leave comments like that???  You actually know that for sure???

Or are you goading the opposition to fight him in the last home game of the season??  Now that would give you plenty to write about I suppose.

A good win last night and could have been better, about the refereeing in our league evans and emmerson are just rubbish they should keep there whistle hidden away and just let the lads play.I really wonder if either of them have actually ever played the game before to fully understand what is going on but no doubt will be shouting at them again next week in nottingham. The penalty shot decision yeah i thought it was but when was the last time you saw one given in our league.Aslo well done to the 4 lads who played defence last night without dowd, wilson, thornton and harris getting hurt early on i thought we would struggle but the 4 of them did really well.

He didnt look like he wanted it in fairness took an age to take his gloves and helmet off and had his back to Kippin while he did it. Kippin got bored and soon as he turned around Kippin was on him. Bit cheap if you ask me but Whyatt took a lifetime to sort himself out so can see why Kippin did it.

Anyone about to drop gloves on the ice should never turn their back on an opponent (it's a fundament of any fight) so to be fair if he accepted the fight he should of been ready to go face to face.
